Only 29 votes!

Today was a great day for the college, we won our $178 million referendum by 29 votes. That’s not very much but a win nonetheless.  I think it’s a great civics lesson for our students…I fully believe their votes made the difference.  Our students spent hours canvassing neighborhoods, running voter registration drives and blanketing the campus reminding students to vote.  I’m confident in saying that if our students would not have supported this referendum it would not have passed.  Now, we can build a new library and health careers building, which will undoubtedly help put thousands of local citizens to work and help to stimulate our local economy.  Definitely a win-win!  Now if we could only get them to vote in a Student Government election. :)
